Why did you decide to become an optometrist?
Growing up, my Dad was a social worker at a school for the blind. My Mom and brothers and I would visit my Dad at work and my interest in vision developed from there.
What's your favorite part about working at ECA?
I enjoy hearing from patients who are towards the end of their vision therapy regimen on how the therapy has helped change their life.
What is your most inspirational patient story?
One patient in particular had been struggling with vertigo and motion sickness. She was unable to drive before starting vision therapy. Over the course of 12 sessions she regained the ability to drive herself around town and thus regained her freedom.
What is your patient care philosophy?
I believe in treating each and every patient as if they are somebody I will have a relationship for the rest of my life. Each patient requires something different, and they should be treated as such.
What would you want every patient to know about their eye health?
There is more to vision than just being able to read the 20/20 line of letters on the eye chart.
